Gain the necessary experience to become a retail sales staff member who works across a range of tasks to sell and demonstrate beauty or cosmetic products, this can include in workplaces like beauty and hairdressing salons, retail outlets and department stores. This certificate will prepare you for the basics within the beauty industry. Retail staff follow known routines and procedures and work under direct supervision.  

You will also gain the skills to work as a freelance make-up artist or at a cosmetic counter, within a salon or a day spa.

This entry level qualification will give you the start you need to work in a hairdressing salon. You will obtain the skills, knowledge and confidence to get your career as a hairdresser underway and improve your opportunities for obtaining a hairdressing apprenticeship.

As a salon assistant you will be the first staff member to greet a client for their appointment. It is your job to provide them with excellent customer service and ensure that the hairdressers have what they need throughout each appointment.
