Do you want an incredibly rewarding career? Are you interested in making people look and feel their very best? This course is an entry point to start your career in the make-up and cosmetic retail industry. This qualification reflects the role of individuals who are competent in communicating in the workplace, interacting with customers, demonstrating and selling make-up and retail skin care products, and performing routine salon or store functions. The qualification is designed to reflect the role of persons who perform a prescribed range of functions under supervision, involving known routines and procedures and with some accountability for the quality of outcomes. The Certificate II in Retail Make-Up and Skin Care provides you with the skills and knowledge to work in the make-up and cosmetic retail industry. You will acquire basic skills in workplace communication, client's interaction, demonstrating and selling make-up and retail skin care products, and performing routine salon or store functions. It gives you the skills to work as a freelance make-up artist or in conjunction with a Photographer or cosmetic surgeon in the area of Remedial Camouflage Make-up, at a cosmetic counter, within a Salon or a Day Spa. This qualification also prepares you for the basics within the Film Industry. |

The fees identified above for this course are (predominantly) based on full-time face-to-face delivery (or Apprenticeship/Traineeship delivery) for this course. Fees may vary depending on your choice of units and some delivery modes. You can also find details of all course costs on our Fees page here.
At Central Regional TAFE, three types of fees may be charged:
- Course fees - set by the State Government and are calculated on the category of enrolment. Students studying a certificate course may be eligible for a concession. Concession students pay 30% of the course fees (not incidental, resource or other fees).
- Resource fees - covers materials purchased by the TAFE which will be consumed or transformed by students in the course of instruction, such as workshop materials & workbooks.
- Other fees - charged for goods and services that are provided by the TAFE such as security, name badges and IT infrastructure.
In addition to these fees, students may need to purchase textbooks, uniforms and other course specific equipment.
