Invest in yourself and secure your future by enrolling in a Certificate IV in Bookkeeping. In this course you will gain specialist skills in financial report preparation for work as a bookkeeper in a business or in your own practice. It is ideal for aspiring and practising bookkeepers and Business Activity Statement (BAS) Agents. You will learn how to set up and maintain computerised accounting systems, prepare financial statements and carry out payroll procedures. The course also provides you with core skills stipulated by the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) for registered BAS (Business Activity Statement) agents. Learn how to complete all bookkeeping requirements and BAS information for employers and clients. A Certificate IV in Bookkeeping will prepare you for roles such as a payroll clerk, bookkeeper or accounts clerk.

Licencing Outcomes
Persons providing a business activity statement (BAS) service must be registered by the Tax Practitioners Board and this qualification is currently cited as meeting the educational requirements for registration. Other conditions apply including a designated period of experience. Persons seeking BAS agent registration should check current registration requirements with the Board as this is reviewed regularly.

At Central Regional TAFE, three types of fees may be charged:

  • Course fees - set by the State Government and are calculated on the category of enrolment.  Students studying a certificate course may be eligible for a concession. Concession students pay 30% of the course fees (not incidental, resource or other fees).
  • Resource fees - covers materials purchased by the TAFE which will be consumed or transformed by students in the course of instruction, such as workshop materials & workbooks.
  • Other fees - charged for goods and services that are provided by the TAFE such as security, name badges and IT infrastructure. 

In addition to these fees, students may need to purchase textbooks, uniforms and other course specific equipment.

If you have completed a Diploma or Advanced Diploma qualification with Central Regional TAFE, you may be able to obtain credits towards a degree at Geraldton Universities Centre (GUC), Charles Sturt University, Central Queensland University and the University of Southern Queensland.
