Automotive Vehicle Servicing and Electrical

Central Regional TAFE have highly skilled lecturers in a variety of automotive fields that are able to train and assess competence in automotive qualifications.

If you are looking at entering into the automotive trades area we offer the following:

Certificate II in Automotive Vocational Preparation

This qualification also covers the skills and knowledge required to perform minor maintenance and repair of an automotive vehicle body. The range of technical skills and knowledge is limited.  This program is an appropriate level for an individual undertaking work experience, or in a probationary period in employment. The qualification is particularly applicable to school-based studies as an entry-level pathway to employment, and is suitable as an Australian traineeship or apprenticeship pathway.

The job roles associated with this qualification includes:

  • trades assistant
  • vehicle service assistant
  • automotive service assistant
  • trainee serviceperson, and
  • automotive trainee.

Certificate II in Automotive Technology

This qualification covers the skills and knowledge required to perform a range of servicing operations on light vehicles, heavy vehicles and/or motorcycles within an automotive service or repair business. It is available through the Vocational Education and Training in Schools program and the general public.

The job roles associated with this qualification includes:

  • automotive serviceperson.

Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology

This qualification is available through the Australian Apprenticeship pathway and can also be acquired through Recognised Prior Learning.

The job roles associated with this qualification includes:

  • light vehicle mechanical technician.

 

Central Regional TAFE offers pre-apprenticeship and traineeship delivery across the following qualifications:

  • Certificate II in Automotive Air Conditioning Technology
  • Certificate II in Automotive Electrical Technology
  • Certificate II in Automotive Servicing Technology
  • Certificate II in Automotive Steering and Suspension System Technology
  • Certificate II in Automotive Tyre Servicing Technology.

Central Regional TAFE also delivers a range of automotive apprenticeships including:

  • Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology
  • Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology
  • Certificate III in Agricultural Mechanical Technology
  • Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology
  • Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology.

Training plans are tailored to meet local industry needs and comply with relevant regulatory bodies. On the job support is offered and workplace training and assessment is conducted as a part of the delivery of these programs.
