The Batavia Coast Maritime Institute in Geraldton has been playing host to two Marine Biologists from Italy.

Jaccapo and Lucrezia travelled to Geraldton to take up internships at the BCMI in November after graduating from the Polytechnic University of Morche, with Masters in Marine Biology.

Lucrezia said their University sponsors students to travel overseas to explore opportunities outside Europe.

“The University gave us grants to come over here so we can expand and further develop our skills,” she explained.

It’s a promising start to 2018 for Central Regional TAFE with Northern Star Resources confirming they are enrolling 14 first year apprentices across a variety of trades at the Kalgoorlie Campus.

 

This is a significant increase (two-three times more) from previous years and was celebrated at a campus sign up morning on Wednesday 18 April at 9.00am.

Training in Moora is set to go up a gear due to a new partnership between AFGRI Equipment and Central Regional TAFE (CRTAFE).

Set to be announced at a community sundowner event later this month and after months of planning, CRTAFE’s Moora Campus will become the central training facility for AFGRI’s Apprenticeship program.

Students and staff came together at the Central Regional TAFE Geraldton campus on Tuesday 13 February to acknowledge the tenth anniversary of The National Apology.

Ten years ago, on this day, the nation stopped to watch Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, apologise to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people for the Stolen Generation.

Staff from the Aboriginal Learning Centre hosted the event that consisted of an informative display, the playing of Kevin Rudd’s apology speech on a big screen and a barbeque.
