Lecturers at Central Regional TAFE’s Carnarvon campus recently hosted a Women’s Wellness Expo to showcase healthy lifestyle choices.

The day, which was co-ordinated by Carnarvon lecturers Steph Kelly and Liz Ellis, included Pilates and Yoga classes, cooking demonstrations by My Healthy Kitchen and talks from the dietician, health promotions officer and public health unit representative from the local hospital.

Central Regional TAFE (CRTAFE) are finalists in this year’s WA Training Awards in two categories.

  • WA Large Training Provider of the Year 2018
  • WA Industry Collaboration Award 2018

The Hon Sue Ellery BA MLC, Minister for Education and Training announced the organisational finalists yesterday and said that this year's finalists demonstrate how the training sector delivers vital education and training opportunities while providing important services to the community.

Two Central Regional TAFE (CRTAFE) students had their skills put to the test at the WorldSkills Australia National Championship held in Sydney last month.

Isabelle Crosswell from the Geraldton Campus placed fifth in the Hairdressing competition and Travis Watts from the Kalgoorlie Campus placed sixth in the Automotive Open competition.

This is the second time a competitor from Geraldton represented Western Australia at the national competition and a first for the Goldfields region.

Northern Star Mining Services (NSMS) and Rock Drill Services Australia (RDSA) have partnered to show their support for local training by donating a Rock Drill to Central Regional TAFE (CRTAFE).


The HLX5 Rock Drill has been sectioned out to show how the components inside work and is a significant addition to the existing teaching aides used to train local heavy plant apprentices.


NSMS Maintenance Coordinator Aaron Armstrong is proud of his organisation’s commitment to local training, ensuring a secure workforce in the future.

Dog owners in the Midwest and Gascoyne will have a second chance to take advantage of discounted Parvovirus Vaccinations as Central Regional TAFE (CRTAFE) Animal Studies students add an additional event due to popular demand.

Students and staff were kept busy at the first event this year (on the 30 May) vaccinating as many puppies as time would allow. Together with the event held in October 2017, the Parvo Vaccination Days held at CRTAFE have resulted in close to 300 dogs been vaccinated against the deadly virus.
