Geraldton Interactive Student Hub Officially Opened

Central Regional TAFE’s new student hub was officially opened on Thursday 26 October with a plaque unveiled by the Hon Alannah MacTiernan, Minister for Regional Development.

The Interactive Student Hub is a new facility at the Geraldton Campus that links the existing student service areas and the Library with the main student recreation area, the Canteen/ Café and the surrounding outdoors student amenities.

Central Regional TAFE’s Managing Director Bill Swetman said new space provided an essential expansion to core Library functions and a dynamic, flexible and integrated learning environment.

“The concept of the Interactive Student Hub is part of a wider campus strategy to promote shared learning experiences, socialisation and positive engagement of student and staff in campus life,” Mr Swetman explained.

“We have over 500 students utilising the space every day.”

Along with a modernised café, the upgrade also included a “Cibatek” facility in the Library that provides students with 24 hour access to computing facilities and a high speed quality WiFi connection.

“I would like to thank the Western Australian State Government through the Department of Training and Workforce Development, the Mid-West Development Commission, and Minister MacTiernan, who along with Central Regional TAFE, funded this initiative,” Mr Swetman said.
