A Certificate II in Aquaculture  will provide you with the practical skills and knowledge to assist in the care and maintenance of fish stocks. You will learn skills in food handling, controlling pests, predators and diseases, handling and harvesting stock, maintaining and manipulating the water environment and applying chemicals and biological agents. It provides individuals with skills and knowledge to work as a field hand in an aquaculture operation such as a hatchery, sea cage or pond facility. It is applicable to school-based studies.

This Skill Set reflects the skills required by Coxswains Grade1 and Masters of commercial vessels requiring proficiency in the use of marine VHF radio and telephone equipment to transmit and receive information to and from ship to ship and ship to shore. 

The Marine Radio Operator’s VHF Skill Set is part of the MAR Maritime Training Package.

This program is linked to the Unit of Competence MEM50010B Respond to boating emergencies and incidents.  This is a nationally recognised unit of competency and upon successful completion you will receive a Statement of Attainment.

Every skipper of a registerable recreational vessel powered by a motor greater than 4.5kwp (6hp) is required to hold a Recreational Skippers Ticket (RST).  In this course delivered by our Batavia Coast Maritime Institute based in Geraldton you will learn the skills and knowledge through theory and practical training to be a safe recreational boat skipper thus gaining your RST.

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will receive an Recreational Skippers ticket from the Department of Transport.  Primary photo identification will be required (eg driver's or learners licence).
