Studying a heavy automotive plant Certificate at TAFE helps you develop the skills and knowledge to diagnose and repair drivelines, drive assemblies, engines, suspension, brakes, hydraulics, pneumatic systems, steering, wiring and circuits, welding and thermal cutting. Completing the Certificate II in Engineering (Mechanical - Plant Mechanic Pre-Apprenticeship) prepares you for an entry-level position in industries such as mining, construction, and agriculture. The skills you learn in this program ensures that you have a wide range of opportunities available to you, no matter what sector you wish to start your career in.
What’s more, some of our Certificate programs are offered on an apprenticeship pathway. This means that you’ll be gaining essential skills and key knowledge as you’re working, developing your confidence and experience as you encounter different types of machinery and equipment during your training. You’ll encounter hydraulic operation systems, braking systems, mechanical and electrical machinery, which will diversify your skills. You’ll learn all aspects of your trade within a structured program that guides you on your learning journey. So not only will you receive a nationally recognised certification upon completion, but you’ll also be confident in your skills to excel in the workplace upon graduation.
Students who have completed these courses have gone on to become:
- Light vehicle mechanics
- Heavy vehicle mechanics
- Plant mechanics
