Gain an introduction into Australian Indigenous culture and tourism.
This entry-level course will provide you with the skills and knowledge to start your career in the tourism industry, and a pathway to a range of jobs within organisations that have an Indigenous focus. You will start by gaining an introduction into Australian Indigenous culture, followed by an introduction into the tourism industry. You'll then complete practical tasks and projects combining these two topics. Topics covered in this course include:
- Local Australian Indigenous culture
- Social and cultural sensitivity
- Sourcing and presenting information
- Engaging with customers
- Communication skills
You may have a very specific role, as an Australian Indigenous person or other individual approved by local elders to share aspects of their culture with visitors in a formal or informal way.

- Assistant in an Indigenous cultural centre
- Assistant Indigenous Guide
- Indigenous storyteller
