Are you looking for a Carpentry or Building and Construction career?

You will gain the knowledge and practical skills to work effectively in the construction industry, use hand and power tools, erect and dismantle restricted height scaffolding, levelling and concreting, interpret drawings, take measurements and workplace health and safety.

This is a pre-vocational course for pre-apprentice learners seeking to gain an apprenticeship in the Construction industry. Learners can complete common core competencies shared between 11 Construction trades, then select additional competencies from ONE trade pathway.

Learners will develop relevant technical, vocational and interpersonal competencies suitable for further training in construction as well as skills, knowledge and experiences that may be transferable to other industry areas.

Half-price

This course is half price for everyone (excl. school students) as part of the Lower Fees, Local Skills initiative. Fees are also capped at $1,200; or $400 if you're aged 15—24 or eligible for a concession. Find out more about half price the fee cap eligibility here.

OLNA or NAPLAN 9 Band 8 C Grades in Year 10 English and Maths or equivalent Certificate I or Certificate II

Work Experience

You must undertake relevant construction industry work experience throughout the duration of this course and in order to achieve the qualification. The work experience component is a minimum of 125 hours, of which at least 63 hours must be on the job work placements with an employer.

White Card

Students will obtain a Worksafe Construction Induction ‘White Card’ (CPCCWHS1001) Prepare to work safely in the construction industry as part of this course. This is an industry requirement.
