This pre-apprenticeship will give you the job-ready skills that employers are looking for, and could give you a head start to get into a commercial cookery apprenticeship to work in restaurants, hotels, catering operations, clubs, pubs, cafes, and coffee shops; or even in aged care facilities, hospitals, prisons, and schools.
You'll get a great introduction to how a commercial kitchen operates, and learn how to prepare dishes to commercial standard.
You'll gain skills in using food prep equipment, food hygiene, perishable stock control, kitchen safety and communication.

Work Placement forms a part of the course and will be required for successful completion. This will involve a minimum of 150 hours completed over Terms 1, 2, and 3 at CR TAFE (simulated environment) and in the workplace. The workplace will contribute to the training of students whilst they are on placement under the guidance of CR TAFE staff.
Certification
Upon successful completion you will receive a Certificate II in Cookery (Commercial Cookery Pre-Apprenticeship).
