The Certificate II in Plumbing is a pre-entry course for students seeking to gain an apprenticeship in the plumbing sector.
In this course you will gain the knowledge and skills to work effectively in the construction industry, how to safely install, alter, and repair pipework services and appliances to suit domestic, commercial and industrial needs, cold and hot water supply, gas supply, sewage, waste and rainwater disposal, how to install and repair roofing, gutters and drainpipes, and how to make buildings waterproof, and workplace health and safety.

- Able to work at heights and in various weather conditions
- Able to cope with the physical demands of the job, and
- Good interpersonal skills and good mobility.

RTO Entrance Requirements
Must be a Year 11 or 12 student from local and regional high schools and have C Grades in Year 10 English and Maths or equivalent, or Year 10-12 Online Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (OLNA).
Students are required to complete 150 Hours of Work Placement to gain their Pre- Apprenticeship Certificate. It is possible for a student to undertake 50% of their work placement under supervision at Central Regional TAFE (CRTAFE).
Where required Work Placement is arranged by CRTAFE, in consultation with employers, students and schools. Schools supply the Insurance for students during work placement.
Students are to keep a journal of hours worked – signed by their work supervisor and submitted to the lecturer.
Licensing, Legislation and Regulation
Plumbing is a licensed trade in Western Australia administered by the Plumbing License Board. State legislation as well as National standards are taught and assessed in this course. Gas Fitting is a licensed trade in Western Australia administered by Energy Safety WA. State legislation as well as National standards are taught and assessed in this course.
Further training may be required to gain a plumbing or gas fitting license in states other than Western Australia.

- Occupational Safety and Health Act 1984 as at 24 June 2005.
- Relevant Codes of Practice.
Relevant Australian Standards.
Certification
Upon successful completion you will receive a Certificate II in Plumbing (Pre-apprenticeship).
