This qualification reflects the role of individuals working at a pre-professional level who are beginning to develop their own artistic voice and command of techniques in a range of art forms.

Practice at this level is underpinned by application of broad and integrated technical and theoretical knowledge and the ability to analyse and use information from a range of sources.

School Leaver Non-School Leaver AQF
C Grades in Year 11 WACE General English, and OLNA; or NAPLAN 9 Band 8 C Grades in Year 11 English and Maths or equivalent Certificate II or Certificate III

 

An interview process during which potential candidate should provide some evidence and or provision of a visual arts portfolio or annotated evidence that exemplifies practice, experimental and development of basic technical skills, concepts and ideas in selected disciplines.

A command of the English language. Communication skills and ability to articulate and discuss creative vision.

Provide through discussion some insight into basic understanding of disciplines, materials, research and artistic vision.

Candidates may have previous Cert II or Cert III qualifications.

Mature age students may provide evidence of professional practice, discuss their arts practice and related interests, concepts and ideas they want to develop.

Delivery location, important dates and study options

Training at CRTAFE will be offered with a blended, flexible delivery model to enable social distancing measures during the COVID-19 pandemic. This approach may include a combination of online and classroom based delivery, as well as practical and work experience placements. While the mode of delivery may vary, the content and key learning outcomes of the course will remain the same. Lecturers will provide specific instructions to their student groups on how training will be undertaken and the support available to them.
