COVID-19 Direct Care Skill Set

State ID: DCSS_001

Ensure you can provide the best care for your clients. Up-skill in infection prevention and control.

The COVID-19 pandemic is an evolving situation which has highlighted the importance of preventing infection through strict hygiene practices and by following other health guidelines. In Western Australia, trained and skilled aged care and disability workers are in high demand now and will continue to be as we move into the recovery phase of the pandemic. There has never been a better time to ensure you have the skills needed to both protect yourself and your clients whilst providing the best care and support possible.

Course Content

You will learn about the basis of infection from viruses to bacteria as well as modes of transmission, infection prevention and control — including the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) — and handling contaminated waste. You will gain the skills you need to deliver care and support, utilise infection control measures and safe manual handling techniques.

You will complete the below nationally accredited units:

HLTINF001           Comply with infection prevention and control policies and procedures;
HLTWHS005       Conduct manual tasks safely; and
CHCCCS011           Meet personal support needs
