Fire Control Officer Workshop

This course is aimed specifically at Local Government staff appointed as Fire Control Officers. Fire Control Officers conduct inspections throughout the year to identify properties that will require work such as the installation of firebreaks, prior to the bush fire season.

Topics covered include:

  • Reading and interpretation of Bush Fires Act 1954 
  • Logistics from a Ranger's viewpoint
  • Defined role of a Fire Control Offices as authorised by the Chief Executive Officer
  • Powers of entry to inspect and assess compliance
  • Power to issue Work ORders and Infringements 


Upon successful completion, students will be issued with a Certificate of Participation.
