Pursue your passion for aquatic life.

A Certificate II in Aquaculture  will provide you with the practical skills and knowledge to assist in the care and maintenance of fish stocks. You will learn skills in food handling, controlling pests, predators and diseases, handling and harvesting stock, maintaining and manipulating the water environment and applying chemicals and biological agents. It provides individuals with skills and knowledge to work as a field hand in an aquaculture operation such as a hatchery, sea cage or pond facility. It is applicable to school-based studies.

You will also gain knowledge and skills in:

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who work in the aquaculture sector of the seafood industry at a management or leadership level. In this role, these individuals design, plan and implement programs and sustainable practices for an aquaculture enterprise that comply with a wide range of legislative and regulatory requirements.

The environments in which these individuals work include:

  • aquaculture farms or fishout/put-and-take operations
  • companies providing contract specialist services for aquaculture operations
  • companies providing consultancy, advisory, equipment sales or other services
  • hatcheries and nurseries
  • live post-harvest holding facilities, such as processing plants, wholesalers or transporters.

Do you enjoy the outdoors? Learn how to safely kayak and snorkel 

In this course you will learn the skills and knowledge required to paddle a kayak as part of a group on areas such as lakes, dams and slow moving rivers. This includes safety and the ability to self-rescue from a capsize. This course is suited to leaders, guides, instructors  and support staff who may use these skills when leading others in kayaking acclivities. 

Topics covered include:

  • Snorkelling in confined or open water
  • Sea kayaking under supervision
  • Plan and prepare a safe boating trip 
  • Routine maintenance and safety

Grab your friends, form a group and spend three days diving and learning together. This short course is for continuing students who have already completed the KAA64 Scuba Diving Skill Set. 

The course work will be completed online and the practical component out on the water.

Snorkel and dive the beautiful Abrolhos Islands!

Practice your skills and broaden your marine biology knowledge all while diving and snorkeling in a world class marine reserve. Grab your friends, form a group and spend three days diving and learning together. This short courses includes an intake for new students and continuing students.

Students will complete a minimum of six (6) nationally recognised units as part of this short course. Required units will depend if you are a new or continuing student. The course work will be completed online and the practical component out on the water.

In this course students will learn the necessary skills to use marine VHF radio to transmit and receive information.

Topics covered include:

  • Transmit and receive information by marine radio including using very high frequency and high frequency radio
  • Regulations relating to marine radio use 
  • Maintenance and fault-finding procedures on radio equipment and power supplies 
  • How to operate emergency position indicating beacons (EPIRBs) and search and rescue radar transponders (SARTs)
