Our training program the entering and working in confined spaces in resources and infrastructure industries.  It includes planning and preparing for entry of confined spaces, entry and working in confined spaces, exiting confined spaces and cleaning up.

This course is suitable for those working in confined spaces (enclosed or partially enclosed) for the purpose of carrying out work or inspections and also is appropriate for those performing sentry or stand-by person roles, at work sites within Civil Construction, Coal Mining, Drilling, Extractive Industries, Metalliferous Mining and General Construction.

You will learn:

  • site and equipment safety requirements
  • confined space entry and exit procedures, risks and regulations
  • air contaminants and toxic gases
  • breathing apparatus limitations
  • equipment types, characteristics, technical capabilities and limitations
  • site isolation and site control responsibilities and authorities
  • materials safety data sheets (MSDS)
  • project quality requirements
  • industry terminology, and
  • state and territory interpretations of a confined space.

Gain the skills and knowledge to safely operate a forklift truck.

As per national guidelines students will learn how to conduct routine checks, proper shifting of a load and how to correctly shutdown and secure a forklift. Forklift is considered high risk work and you will attain the skills required to maneuver goods in a variety of industries including manufacturing, transport, mining and production industries.

Certification

Upon successful completion you will receive a Statement of Attainment. 

A WorkSafe fee for the High Risk Licence is included into the course fee and completed applications and fees will be sent directly to WorkSafe. An interim licence will be issued to allow forklift operation until application is processed.

Central Regional TAFE is a WorkSafe approved provider of this course required by all newly elected Safety and Heath Representatives

You will gain the knowledge and skills to carry out the functions of an elected Safety and Health Representative (SHR). SHR play an important role in fostering cooperation and consultation between employers and employee's in the workplace. This course is designed to enable the SHR to effectively represent their fellow employee's on all matters relating to safety and health in the workplace.
