A Diploma of Nursing from Central Regional TAFE will see you work as an enrolled nurse in a range of health care settings including hospitals, health clinics, community organisations or residential care. It is a diverse, challenging and rewarding career, as nurses make a real difference to the comfort and care of patients every day. 

By working in our simulated hospital wards and outreach clinic, you will gain knowledge and skills that will enable you to assess and provide nursing care to clients, including how to observe and measure vital signs, and assist patients with everyday activities. You will develop essential effective communication skills and learn to work with and care for people from different backgrounds.

With our nursing qualification you'll gain skills that are relevant to current industry trends and practices. By the end of the course you will be able to:

  • Assist in the provision of preventative, curative and rehabilitative nursing
  • Understand anatomy and physiology
  • Understand and implement infection control
  • Provide nursing care for the client
  • Understand legal and ethical parameters
  • Promote positive health
  • Understand health issues of Indigenous Australians
  • Contribute to the nutritional and mental health care of the clients

On completion of the Diploma of Nursing graduates can gain employment in the health industry. Employment prospects are high in this industry and you'll also gain satisfaction from helping people and possibly even saving lives.

When you complete the Certificate IV in Preparation for Health and Nursing Studies you'll be a step closer to a career as an enrolled nurse.

You will gain the knowledge and skills to ease comfortably into studying nursing. You will learn about anatomy, physiology, and microbiology, medical terminology, applied mathematics, physics and chemistry, as well as study skills.

The Certificate IV in Preparation for Health and Nursing Studies provides the academic knowledge for entry into the Diploma of Nursing.

Many of our courses offer flexible learning options that provide you with the opportunity to study whenever and wherever suits you.  Flexible options can include online learning, workplace assessment, recognition of prior learning and correspondence type programs that can sometimes be supplemented by block or focussed delivery.

We strive to offer a mix of flexible options that suit your needs.  Typically flexible learning options are open for enrolment all year round, allowing you to start any time and complete within 6 months of your start date.  Choose the right amount of units for you to study at any given time.
