Important COVID-19 Information Regarding Overnight Voyages and Day Trips

Overnight voyages

This information applies to the following skill sets:

  • Abrolhos Planting
  • Bird Watching
  • Kayaking
  • SCUBA

Vaccinations

Central Regional TAFE (CRT) requires every person (crew and passengers) on the vessel to be fully vaccinated before overnight departures.

Passengers must provide CRT with proof of double vaccination before boarding the vessel. Passengers can email a pdf copy of their vaccination certificate to the lecturer or show their digital certificate. The Master will refuse anyone unable to provide proof of vaccination to board the vessel.

Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) prior to boarding

Before boarding the vessel, CRT will provide all passengers with a RAT. The Master will refuse anyone returning a positive test to board the vessel.

Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) while onboard

Carry out RATs on all persons that show COVID 19 symptoms while onboard the vessel.

If a person returns a positive test, the person will be isolated from other passengers. The vessel will return to port and follow directions from the Department of Health.

All positive tests will be recorded in the vessel logbook and reported to the CRT COVID Incident Coordinator.

Sleeping arrangements

To help maintain social distancing overnight, passengers are encouraged to bring a swag with them so that they can sleep on the deck or flybridge in the open air where possible.

In bad weather, the deck has a roof for protection.

Social distancing

All passengers and crew must wear a mask when in the wheelhouse area.

All passengers and crew must maintain a minimum of 2 square meters per person when in the wheelhouse and accommodation area of the vessel.

Day trips

Social distancing

While in the wheelhouse area, all passengers and crew must wear a mask and abide by the 2 square meters per person.

Note: If the overall COVID 19 transmission risk level on the CRT COVID 19 risk assessment goes up to LEVEL 4, all boat trips will be cancelled until the level returns to LEVEL 3.
