Social Sewing Skills Set

Do you want to learn basic sewing skills?

Learn the basics of sewing in this beginner course. We'll teach you how to use a sewing machine and guide you through the completion of various sewing projects, including sewing a tote bag from a basic pattern and a basic garment (elastic waisted pants or shorts) using a commercial pattern. 

Gain skills such as: 

  • Threading a sewing machine and wind cotton to a bobbin
  • Laying your fabric and using a pattern
  • How to cut fabric
  • Sewing fabric using a sewing machine

You will need to:

  • Wear enclosed shoes
  • Long hair must be tied back
  • Remove any long accessories when working on the sewing machines

The lecturer will advise on the quantity and type of fabric to be purchases for your projects. 

Certification

Upon successful completion you will receive a Statement of Attainment.
