From Certificate 1 to Advanced Diploma level, TAFE specialises in combining theory with practical training in industry relevant learning environments. This ensures you are well equipped with the skills you need to enter the workforce, gain a promotion or undertake further study via one of our university pathways upon completion of your qualification.

Our solid links and partnerships with industry, the community and employers provide job-ready training, facilitating a smoother transition to work. A diverse range of pathways are also available, offering opportunities for you to progress to higher level training or tertiary qualifications.

STATE OF THE ART FACILITIES 

Central Regional TAFE has made a significant investment into the infrastructure and facilities available to our students.  

Health and Education Facilities - Geraldton
A brand new state of the art facility for students involved in health, childcare and education.

Aboriginal Learning Centre - Geraldton
The Aboriginal Learning Centre (J Block) in the physical and cultural heart of the Geraldton Campus was officially opened on 3 March 2016.

The aims of the new Centre are:

  • Establishment of an appropriate and welcoming learning space in tune with Aboriginal ways of learning.
  • Supporting improved outcomes from training for Aboriginal students.
  • Supporting increased numbers of Aboriginal students moving into higher level qualifications in skills shortage areas.
  • Establishment of a positive presence that shares Aboriginal culture with the broader Institute.
  • Focus on a holistic approach linking training and foundation skills with employment outcomes.

Technology Park - Geraldton
This modern campus opened in semester two, 2015. The facility delivers training and qualifications for trainees, apprentices, post trade, technicians and plant operators in occupations relating to the construction, operation and maintenance of resource sector facilities, plant and equipment.

  • Large heavy duty automotive workshops with an additional 500m2 undercover hardstand.
  • Truck inspection pit.
  • Wash-down facilities.
  • Fuel store.
  • Two heavy duty automotive classrooms.
  • Facilities for students and visitors with disabilities and designated parking bays are available.
  • Student common room equipped with a microwave, fridge, and tea/coffee making facilities leading to an outdoor seating area where students can enjoy the open air.

Zeewijk Training Restaurant - Geraldton

The restaurant is an essential part of the training for our students studying Hospitality and Commercial Cookery at the Geraldton Campus. Kalgoorlie Campus also has a training restaurant for students. Our students are required to participate in every aspect of managing the restaurant. During training there may be times when things do not go exactly as planned, but we thank you for your patience, understanding and support of our students. 

The Zeewijk Training Restaurant has been a finalist in the Gold Plate Awards for the last two years, so come and and enjoy great cuisine and more in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Open Wednesday evenings for fine dining and Thursdays for bistro style lunch.

Evolution Hair, Beauty & Massage Training Salon - Geraldton

Our student-operated retail training centre give students a chance to operate 'real life' Hairdressing, Beauty Therapy and Massage clinics under the guidance of our qualified practitioners and lecturers. We ensure that all our students train to the highest standard in preparation for the workforce.

Hairdressing apprentices are trained to meet the high standards required in today’s workplace. We ensure our students get hands-on experience with real clients in every facet of Hairdressing.

Our Beauty Therapy and Massage students offer a range of treatments and natural therapies including waxing, facials, massage and aromatherapy. Student training is focused on health consultation to develop individual treatment plans for every client. 

Please allow a little more time for students to complete their work. Remember, our students are training and don't yet have the speed and expertise of a fully qualified Hairdresser, Beauty or Massage Therapist.

Master Class Training Vessel - Geraldton

Our Batavia Coast Maritime Institute maintains a 20m marine vessel used for Fishing, Maritime and Aquaculture courses. The vessel named the Masterclass, is also used for charters to the Abrolhos Islands and for scuba diving courses.

Beauty and Hairdressing Training Centre - Kalgoorlie

The repurposing of an existing facility at the Kalgoorlie campus to develop a Beauty and Hairdressing training centre to deliver a full range of Certificate level programs was designed to industry standards; including the implementation of the most industry current point of sale program to provide students training in online bookings, retail sales, financial transactions and reports.

Specialist Instrumentation Lab - Kalgoorlie

The implementation of a specialist Instrumentation lab at the Kalgoorlie campus with six fully equipped mobile training electrical instrumentation rigs allows flexible delivery of the course for onsite practical training and assessment. Investment includes a dedicated hydraulics lab with access to three LabVolt hydraulics training units, a Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Mill and a CNC lathe. Additionally, Certificate IV in Engineering programs have been developed for Electrical Instrumentation, Fluid Power and CNC Machining as progression pathways for Tradesmen and to address identified industry needs.
