Applications for Central Regional TAFE’s Midwest and Gascoyne Vocational Education and Training Delivered to Secondary Students (VETDSS) Student and Employer Awards are closing on the 12 October.


Year 11 and 12 high school students enrolled at Central Regional TAFE (CRTAFE) are urged to apply for one of the seven awards on offer.

Central Regional TAFE is proud to announce that six students from the Merredin campus have been selected to receive a Collgar Windfarm Scholarship. 

Collgar Wind Farm is a $750 million renewable power project at Merredin in Western Australia’s central Wheatbelt. The Collgar Wind Farm 2018 Scholarship was open to students wanting to enrol in nationally recognized training at CR TAFE, who have a connection to the Shire of Merredin and surrounding communities.

Central Regional TAFE’s scholarship partner METSO Australia Limited is once again offering scholarship opportunities for TAFE students in Geraldton and Kalgoorlie, with applications closing this Friday.

The scholarships form part of METSO’s Indigenous Scholarship Program and are offered to students enrolled in courses related to Engineering and Mining at the Kalgoorlie or Geraldton campuses during semester two 2018.

A young Central Regional TAFE Aboriginal student has become the first graduate apprentice from the Ngaanyatjarra lands in over 5 years.

Alex Benning, 20, completed a Carpentry and Joinery apprenticeship at Central Regional TAFE in 2017 and is now working as a qualified tradesperson for the Ngaanyatjarra Council.

Lecturers at Central Regional TAFE’s Carnarvon campus recently hosted a Women’s Wellness Expo to showcase healthy lifestyle choices.

The day, which was co-ordinated by Carnarvon lecturers Steph Kelly and Liz Ellis, included Pilates and Yoga classes, cooking demonstrations by My Healthy Kitchen and talks from the dietician, health promotions officer and public health unit representative from the local hospital.
