Cutting Edge Technology arrives at TAFE

Metal fabrication apprentices in the Goldfields region will benefit from the highly anticipated arrival of Central Regional TAFE’s Kalgoorlie Campus new portable CNC cutting machine.

The CNC Crossbow manufactured by ESAB, is only one of three in the region and allows students to work with the latest technology available in the industry.

Students completing their Certificate III in Metal Fabrication will now have the opportunity to use the computer programmed machine as part of their training, which offers multiple cutting options, including precision cutting and automated thermal cutting.

Central Regional TAFE’s Program Manager for Trades at the Kalgoorlie Campus Mitch Brennan said the new machine is a significant upgrade from previous equipment.

“It will enable our students to be more creative with their projects and ensures our training reflects new industry practices”, Mr Brennan said.

“This is a testament to the TAFE’s continual commitment to upgrade our equipment and facilities for our students, keeping them at industry standards”, he said.

The portable and easy to use machine will also be a resource to pre-apprentices who are receiving an introduction into the industry, and will equip them with a basic understanding of the many advantages of using this new technology.
