A glimpse into TAFE

Central Regional TAFE’s (CRTAFE) Geraldton campus Open Day is set to be bigger than ever with several activities planned for all ages.

Attendees will be able to explore the many possibilities available to them at TAFE by trying hands-on interactive activities, viewing campus facilities and speaking to experienced staff and lecturers who can provide one-on-one advice specifically for their needs.

The event will also feature tours, competitions, a live radio broadcast and free food and drinks.

Current students will be hosting a fashion parade, giving free make-overs, hair tutorials, massages and heath checks.

External exhibitors who partner with TAFE and scholarship providers will also be on-hand to speak to prospective students.

CRTAFE's Managing Director Bill Swetman said the Open Day provides a valuable opportunity for those thinking about enrolling in TAFE to speak directly with staff and existing students who can give them a firsthand account of what they can expect and how TAFE can help them get to where they want to be.

“We would like everyone to come and take advantage of having all the information in one place and see just how much is available at their local TAFE right here in Geraldton” Mr Swetman said.

“A key advantage about training at TAFE and something that our Geraldton campus specialises in, is the provision of state-of-the-art student training facilities designed to simulate real work environments. Facilities such as the Zeewijk Training Restaurant, Evolution Hair Beauty and Massage Training Salon, Student Veterinary Clinic, DigiPics Business Training Centre, Nursing and Aged Care hospital rooms, and several industry standard trades workshops all give our students real-life experience which is looked at favourably by employers and invaluable when they enter the workforce” he said.

“More and more research into further education is proving that a TAFE qualification provides better job prospects and monetary outcomes for graduates than University and we want everyone to come and explore their options for the future” he said.

“No matter your age, work experience or background – TAFE has something for you. Whether you’re a school leaver, career changer or wanting to up-skill, we encourage you to come along to the Open Day” he said.

CRTAFE offers a large variety of courses from a Certificate I to Advanced Diploma, apprenticeships, traineeships and short courses, as well as several payment options and support.

The Geraldton Campus Open Day will be held on Thursday 19 September between 12pm-6pm at 175 Fitzgerald St.
