International Day of People with a Disability

Central Regional TAFE (CRTAFE) recently hosted events at their Kalgoorlie, Geraldton and Northam campuses to celebrate International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD).

IDPwD is a United Nations sanctioned day that is celebrated internationally. It aims to increase public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability and celebrate their achievements and contributions.

Together with the support of other local community oganisations, CRTAFE had several Interactive activities including, vision boarding, lego, painting, CPR demos and more.  Guests also enjoyed a free BBQ lunch and giveaways.

Central Regional TAFE Managing Director, Bill Swetman, said staff had worked hard to plan an enjoyable day for students, staff and the community.

“We had a great time with students, their families, other students, staff and the community – it was great to see them take part in the free activities that were planned” he said.

“It is wonderful to see students with a disability attend TAFE, enjoy their learning experience and achieve their goals. These events give us an opportunity to celebrate them and their achievements” Mr Swetman said.

“We take great pride in ensuring our training programs are inclusive and accessible to all and our Students Services teams located at all campuses do a great job in supporting students, particularly those with a disability.
