VETDSS Awards Closing Soon

Applications for Central Regional TAFE’s Midwest and Gascoyne Vocational Education and Training Delivered to Secondary Students (VETDSS) Student and Employer Awards are closing on the 12 October.

 

Year 11 and 12 high school students enrolled at Central Regional TAFE (CRTAFE) are urged to apply for one of the seven awards on offer.

 

Categories include:

 

  • Aboriginal Vocational Education and Training Student
  • Education Support Student
  • Trade Based Training Student
  • Employment Based Training Student
  • Certificate II Studies Student
  • Higher Vocational Studies Student
  • 2018 Mid West & Gascoyne VETDSS Student of the Year

 

Each year CRTAFE VETDSS Awards recognise excellence in students undertaking Vocational Education and Training programs in schools, and assist in enhancing the profile of these programs in the Mid West and Gascoyne regions. The Awards also recognise the partnerships between CRTAFE and local businesses who continue to support students in hosting valuable work placement opportunities.

 

The VETDSS Employer Awards recognise the support of business and industry with the VETDSS program and can be nominated by any member of school staff, parent/guardian, student or employee involved in the program.

 

Employer Award Categories are:

 

• Small Business (fewer than 50 employees)

• Medium Business (more than 50 and fewer than 200 employees)

• Large Business (more than 200 employees)

 

Central Regional TAFE Managing Director Bill Swetman encouraged all eligible students to apply and to nominate eligible employers.

 

“Studying whilst in school is a significant achievement and demonstrates a student’s commitment to their future. Each year we look forward to celebrating the great work of our youngest TAFE students by way of these awards” Mr Swetman said.

 

“The awards also highlight the great work of many people including staff and employers who make these innovative training programs a success and of great benefit to our students” he said.   

 

Applications for the Mid-West and Gascoyne Region VETDSS Awards close 4.30pm, Friday 12 October 2018.
