OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENTS CELEBRATED AT CENTRAL REGIONAL TAFE GOLDFIELDS GRADUATION
Central Regional TAFE (CR TAFE) Kalgoorlie campus hosted the 2025 Graduation and Awards Ceremony at the Goldfields Learning Centre on Wednesday 25 March, celebrating the achievements of graduates and recognising Major Award winners across a diverse range of study areas.
In 2025, more than 2,100 students successfully completed their training with CR TAFE across its nine campuses, including over 371 graduates from the Goldfields region. On the evening, six students were recognised as recipients of Major Awards for their outstanding achievements.
The Goldfields Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year Award, sponsored by BHP, was presented to Kevin Dorizzi, who graduated with a Certificate IV in Mental Health and a Diploma of Counselling. Kevin is now pursuing a Bachelor of Psychology, with the goal of becoming a psychologist and strengthening mental health support for Aboriginal communities.
The Goldfields Apprentice of the Year Award, sponsored by Northern Star Mining Services, was awarded to Isaac Bartholomew, who completed a Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology. Isaac plans to undertake a dual trade in Automotive Electrical Technology while continuing to develop his leadership within the industry.
The Goldfields Cultural Diversity Training Award, sponsored by Lynas Rare Earths, was presented to Jennifer Hernandez, who graduated with a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery. Jennifer plans to continue developing her skills through further training and international workshops, with aspirations of becoming a senior chef and opening her own restaurant.
The Goldfields Vocational Student of the Year Award, sponsored by Evolution Mining, was awarded to Kate Simons, who graduated with a Diploma of Counselling. Alongside her studies, Kate works with PCYC Kalgoorlie, supporting youth programs, sport and community initiatives. She plans to continue her studies in psychology, criminology and justice, with the goal of pursuing a career in youth work and the justice sector.
The Goldfields Trainee of the Year Award, also sponsored by Evolution Mining, was presented to Shayden Dimer, who completed a Certificate II in Workplace Skills. A proud Wongutha woman from Kalgoorlie, Shayden chose to study business to build practical administration skills and establish a strong foundation for her future career.
The Goldfields International Student of the Year Award, sponsored by Natrad Radiator Specialists Kalgoorlie, was presented to Millaray Aceituno Cortes, who graduated with a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care. During her placements with Busy Bees Early Learning and Bright Beginnings OSHC, Millaray demonstrated exceptional initiative by designing learning resources and creating engaging experiences for children. With a background in Language and Communication teaching, she now plans to pursue a Bachelor of Education.
CR TAFE Acting Managing Director Karen Watts praised students for their commitment and achievements.
“Central Regional TAFE’s Graduation and Awards events are a valuable opportunity to celebrate our students’ success,” Ms Watts said.
“In 2025, students from across all campuses have excelled throughout their learning journey and exceeded expectations. Their dedication to completing their training places them on strong pathways to meaningful employment and further study.”
Ms Watts also highlighted the contribution of graduates to the Goldfields region.
“More than 370 qualified and job‑ready graduates are now prepared to add value across key local industries, including mining, hospitality, early childhood education and care, automotive, electrical and engineering, as well as community and care services.”
“They are also ready to pursue further study and advance their own career aspirations.
Sometimes people are surprised by just how broad the range of courses available is at their local TAFE.”
