Have your say on the new WA Carers Strategy

Estimated reading time: 1 minute

The Western Australian Government is developing a new WA Carers Strategy and is seeking feedback from carers, service providers and community groups across the state.

Carers provide unpaid care to a family member or friend who needs assistance with everyday tasks due to disability, mental illness, chronic health conditions or age‑related needs. Many carers balance these responsibilities alongside work, study and other commitments.

The new Strategy represents an important opportunity to strengthen recognition, inclusion and support for carers across Western Australia. Hearing directly from carers about their experiences will help shape practical actions that respond to real needs within the community.

As part of the consultation process, Dr Katrina Stratton MLC will be facilitating a series of in‑person sessions across the state, including a session in Northam on Friday, 8 May 2026. These sessions are open to carers, organisations that support carers, and community members with an interest in carer wellbeing.

Community members who identify as carers, including young carers, are encouraged to participate and share their views.

Registrations are now open and can be made via Eventbrite:
