Become qualified in rural and environmental pest management 

This qualification  the skills and knowledge required for pest management contractors, pest management field officers, vertebrate pest management field officers and weed management field officers in the pest management industry. This includes those who work in weed management as well as vertebrate pest management in conservation, land management, horticulture and agriculture settings.

  • Students will require a firearms license and a current A class driver’s license.
  • Students will need to have experience and or be working in the industry.  If students are not currently working in the industry, they will need to have access to a workplace approved by the assessor.

Certificate III in Equine Hoof Care

This qualification reflects the role of practitioners undertaking equine barefoot care. It covers hoof care, hoof trimming and the provision of services to assist in optimising environmental and nutritional requirements of equines in a range of varied contexts that may be complex and non-routine.

The duties require discretion and judgement and the ability to communicate information accurately to owners or carers concerning equine health and hoof care in a variety of circumstances

This course is best suited to people with a reasonable level of physical health and fitness. Experience with horses would be desirable.

Study pathway

Learners completing this qualification would be eligible for accreditation with ACEHP (Australian Certified Equine Hoofcare Practitioners) and able to work in the hoofcare industry under their banner with their network support.

Learners may also choose to go on to further study with us, such as the Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing, or look at other higher level education avenues.
