GovHack

Join the largest open data hackathon in the southern hemisphere.

GovHack is an international event which attracts thousands of participants each year who come together in simultaneous events taking place in major and regional cities across the country.

The event requires competitors to work in small teams during the 46 hour event to produce a ‘hack’ using Australian government data. Teams are judged on the production of a three minute video explaining their idea and its future potential.

It is FREE to register and there are no costs associated with participating in the event.

This is not a generic course and participants will only be trained on the make and model of the portable appliance tester that they will use for testing appliances in their organisation or workplace. - Participants will be required to bring with them to this training their workplace PAT's machine.

Participants will be required to demonstrate a basic understanding of portable appliance testing equipment and an understanding of the following course learning outcomes:

  • The requirements to ensure that portable electrical equipment is safe to operate in accordance with Western Australian legislation and regulations.
  • Demonstrate the ability to inspect and test portable equipment to the standards as set out by AZ/NZS3760:2010

KAA12 Traffic Management Skill Set Skill set Kalgoorlie Campus

The Traffic Management Skill Set is for people who want to work in traffic management on public roads and other designated traffic management areas.

This course will provide participants with the knowledge and skills required to be able to safely control traffic with a stop/slow bat in accordance with Main Roads WA (MRWA) requirements and implement basic traffic management plans for works on roads.

The course covers:

 

  • Plan, prepare and coordinate Traffic
  • Setting out the traffic guidance scheme
  • Close down traffic guidance scheme
  • Controlling traffic
  • Operating communication devices
  • Clean Up

This three day course includes written and practical assessments, including mandatory practical logbook assessments in the below units of competency:

RIIWHS302D Implement Traffic Management Plan

RIIWHS205D Control Traffic with a Stop/Slow Bat

RIICOM201D Communication in the Workplace

RIIWHS201D Work safely and follow WHS policies and procedures

Requirements:

  • Evidence of a valid driver's licence, or evidence of previously having held a driver's licence (no learner's permits or moped licences).
  • Literacy and numeracy skills to a level that will allow you to complete the written component of the assessment.
  • A Whitecard (Safety Awareness Training) is now a required pre-requisite in order for attendees to complete the logbook component of the training and for the graduate to be issued with this accreditation to work on a road site.

Practical

For the practical assessment all participants are required to:

  • Wear appropriate work wear steel capped boots, hi-visibility clothing for practical assessments if possible.
  • Hat and sunscreen recommended.
  • Safety glasses/sunglasses.

These are nationally recognised units of competency and upon successful completion you will receive a Statement of Attainment and MRWA accreditation.

A short course in Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) in Excel will equip you with the technical skills and required knowledge to create automated processes within Excel. You will learn to create command procedures, write simple code and use a range of common programming techniques to manipulate, analyse, and present data more easily and efficiently.

Course Content


•    create recorded macros in Excel
•    use the macro recorder to create a variety of macros
•    understand the Excel object model and VBA concepts
•    work with the three main components of the VBA Editor window
•    create command procedures
•    create and work with user defined functions
•    write code to manipulate Excel objects
•    use a range of common programming techniques
•    create a custom form complete with controls and event procedures
•    create code to drive a user form
•    create procedures that start automatically, and
•    write a variety of error handling routines.

Certification

Upon completion of this course you will receive a Certificate of Participation.

The White Card Skill Set is an induction skill set designed for those required by Occupational Safety and Health Regulations to provide competency, namely the construction industry.

The requirements for construction induction training apply to construction work.
The definition of construction work under the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1984 and Occupational Safety and Health Regulations 1996 is very broad and picks up a wide range of activities. The Occupational Safety and Health Regulations 1996 set out mandatory requirements for the provision of construction safety induction training, for employees or self-employed people doing construction work at a workplace in Western Australia.
 

Upon successful completion you will receive a Statement of Attainment
