Kick start your career in financial services with this entry-level course.

Develop the practical skills required to gain employment in a variety of administrative roles within the financial service industry. The Accounting Services industry has grown over the past five years on the back of steady economic growth and increasing demand for industry-specific expertise.

During this course you will learn to work effectively in the financial services sector, gain skills to utilise technology in the workplace, and develop an understanding of how to effectively participate in safe work practices.

Successful completion of this course will qualify you to work in a range of administrative, clerical, and customer services roles within the financial services sector.

Add to your existing knowledge gained in the Excel basic course.

The intermediate part of this course will cover:

  • Creating charts
  • Statistical functions
  • Lookup formulas
  • Using multiple workbooks

You will then learn the more advanced features of Microsoft Excel including:

  • analytical tools
  • pivot tables
  • solver
  • outlining and
  • summarising as well as some key automation features such as Macros.

This course assumes a good general understanding of the software and experience in the construction and modification of workbooks. Students should be able to copy within Excel, create charts and create basic formulas.

This course will equip you with the practical skills and knowledge to perform day-to-day bookkeeping operations using MYOB AccountRight

You will learn to create a company data file complete historical and opening balances, produce and manage purchase orders and invoices, manage accounts payable and receivable and produce BAS documentation.

Specifically you will learn how to:

  • Modify an existing chart of accounts to suit your business needs

  • Make changes to customer and supplier details in the card file

  • Create an inventory in MYOB AccountRight of items for sale

  • Purchase items for a business in MYOB AccountRight

  • Enter payments for purchases

  • Produce complex invoices

  • Apply customer payments to open invoices

  • Use MYOB AccountRight's cheque facility for making purchases

  • Reconcile MYOB AccountRight data against company bank statements

  • Work with the reporting system

  • Understand how MYOB AccountRight is setup and works with the GST

Learn the more advanced features of Microsoft Excel

This short course is aimed at those who have existing knowledge and experience using Excel including in the construction and modification of workbooks, the ability to copy within Excel, creation of charts and basic formulas. Students will learn some of the more advanced features including analytical tools, pivot tables, Solver, outlining, summarising and key automation features such as Macros. 

Topics covered include: 

  • use a range of formula techniques,
  • protect data in worksheets and workbooks,
  • use an advanced filter to analyse data in a list,
  • use a variety of data validation techniques,
  • apply conditional formatting to ranges in a worksheet,
  • use goal seeking to determine the values required to read a desired result,
  • create, use and modify data tables,
  • create and work with scenarios and Scenario Manager,
  • understand and create simple PivotTables,
  • construct and operate PivotTables using some of the more advanced techniques,
  • use data linking to create more efficient workbooks, and
  • use the Data Consolidation feature to combine data from several workbooks into one.
