Early Childhood Education and Care is an expanding sector for those with a genuine interest and passion in the care and education of young children up to the age of 5 years. The sector is demanding higher qualifications and training from educators in this field to ensure consistently high standards of education and care for children placed in these services. This course is available as a Traineeship.

Entrance requirements for Traineeships

You must be employed in a training contract by an appropriate organisation to study an apprenticeship or traineeship. 

An traineeship involves full time work with an employer who provides an opportunity to learn all aspects of a trade. This is a structured program for a fixed period of time and while you learn on the job.

Some of the benefits of a Traineeship are that you can:

  • Earn a wage while you train
  • Learn on the job skills combined with off the job training
  • Receive a nationally recognised qualification on successful completion
  • Start a valuable step towards a rewarding career path.

A Work Placement must be undertaken as part of this course.

First Aid - HLTAID004

Central Regional TAFE has a partnership arrangement with The Royal Life Saving Society Western Australia Inc (RLSSWA) RTO # 0854 to deliver and assess this unit on their behalf. RLSSWA are the Registered Training Organisation (RTO) therefore Central Regional TAFE follows all of RLSSWA’s organisational policies and procedures when delivering and assessing all units of competence. All correspondence related to the policies and procedures should be directed to the office (08) 9383 8200. A fee of $19.80 will be paid to RLSSWA for issuance of Certificates/statements of attainments.

This qualification is also available to VET in Schools students. For further information regarding this, students will need to contact their local school. A fulfilling career helping children grow and develop

This diploma will provide you with the skills and knowledge to manage the operation of a child care centre where you would be responsible for planning, implementing and managing programs in early childhood services (0-5 years), in accordance with licensing, accreditation and duty of care requirements. You would also supervise staff and volunteers.

During this course you will learn to provide care and meet the social, emotional, physical and educational needs of infants and young children in various care settings.

VET Student Loans

This qualification is eligible for the Commonwealth Government's VET Student Loan scheme. Eligible students can opt to defer the payment of all or part of their tuition fees by applying for a VET Student Loan. VET Student Loans will not be approved for students who do not meet eligibility requirements. Approved loans become a personal debt with the Commonwealth (HELP debt) until it is repaid.
