Delivery location, important dates and study options

Training at CRTAFE will be offered with a blended, flexible delivery model to enable social distancing measures during the COVID-19 pandemic. This approach may include a combination of online and classroom based delivery, as well as practical and work experience placements. While the mode of delivery may vary, the content and key learning outcomes of the course will remain the same. Lecturers will provide specific instructions to their student groups on how training will be undertaken and the support available to them.

Certificate III in Fitness

Turn your passion for health and fitness into a rewarding career.

When you complete the Certificate III in Fitness you'll be on your way to a career as an exercise or gym instructor. You will gain the knowledge and skills to apply anatomy and physiology principles to fitness, assessing fitness levels, health screening, plan and deliver fitness, endurance, and group exercise programs, provide first aid, and workplace safety and health.

Entry Requirements

You must be aged 18 years or older to study the Certificate III in Fitness.  Check out our Pre Enrolment Guide for more information.

Course requirements

Individuals who specialise in Aqua Exercise Instruction deliver water-based exercise sessions designed for participation by a group of clients. Sessions may be freestyle, pre-choreographed or circuit style. They also have the skills to rescue a client in distress, and an appropriate level of pool deck fitness and endurance.

Individuals who specialise in Group Exercise Instruction deliver exercise sessions designed for participation by a group of clients with a mix of ages/fitness levels. Sessions may be freestyle, pre-choreographed or circuit style. These individuals instruct and demonstrate complete exercise sessions to groups with limited individual interaction.

Individuals who specialise in Gym Instruction provide individually tailored client assessments, provide technique correction as needed, and develop and demonstrate programs. They also provide supervision of a facility or service, keep equipment clean, tidy and well maintained, and handle various customer inquiries.

Please note that Central Regional TAFE has a partnership arrangement with The Royal Life Saving Society Western Australia Inc (RLSSWA) RTO # 0854 to deliver and assess First Aid (HLTAID004) on their behalf. RLSSWA are the Registered Training Organisation (RTO) therefore Central Regional TAFE follows all of RLSSWA’s organisational policies and procedures when delivering and assessing all units of competence. A fee of $19.80 will be paid to RLSSWA for issuance of Certificates/statements of attainments.

These courses provide you with the practical skills and knowledge to perform a full range of hairdressing services including fundamental and creative haircutting, styling, colouring, perming and straightening on male and female clients. You’ll also learn to perform reception duties such as making appointments and writing up client record cards, and client consultation and advice.

A qualification in pathology will open up a world of diverse employment opportunities within the healthcare system. Working at the forefront of pathology services, a pathology collector provides valuable service in hospital wards, outpatients, and in community collection centres ensuring specimens requested for pathology testing are collected appropriately to be forwarded to the laboratory.
