Marine Radio Skill Set

Designed to suit individuals seeking Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) Marine Radio Operator’s VHF Certificate of Proficiency. This Skill Set reflects the skills required by Coxswains Grade1 and Masters of commercial vessels requiring proficiency in the use of marine VHF radio and telephone equipment to transmit and receive information to and from ship to ship and ship to shore. 

The Marine Radio Operator’s VHF Skill Set is part of the MAR Maritime Training Package.

Shipboard Safety Skill Set

State ID: AC773

This Skill Set reflects the work required by people who need to complete shipboard safety units of competency required by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA). Aimed at providing skills for people completing units that contribute to various maritime certifications required and endorsed by AMSA. 

As participants of this skill set participants will learn how to apply basic survival skills in the event of vessel abandonment, follow procedures to minimise and fight fires on board a vessel, meet work health and safety requirements and survive at sea using survival craft.

A Certificate II in Aquaculture  will provide you with the practical skills and knowledge to assist in the care and maintenance of fish stocks. You will learn skills in food handling, controlling pests, predators and diseases, handling and harvesting stock, maintaining and manipulating the water environment and applying chemicals and biological agents. It provides individuals with skills and knowledge to work as a field hand in an aquaculture operation such as a hatchery, sea cage or pond facility. It is applicable to school-based studies.

Practice your skills and broaden your marine biology knowledge all while diving and snorkeling in a world class marine reserve. Grab your friends, form a group and spend three days diving and learning together. This short courses includes an intake for new students and continuing students.

Course Content

Students will complete a minimum of six (6) nationally recognised units as part of this short course. Required units will depend if you are a new or continuing student. The course work will be completed online and the practical component out on the water.
