Are you looking for a career making heavy metal objects?

Following this pre-apprenticeship program, graduates can continue their studies in a metal fabrication apprenticeship. Metal fabricators and welders work in a diverse trade, applying a broad range of fabrication and welding skills to industries including: mechanical and civil engineering, mining resources sector, heavy haulage and road transport, agriculture machinery, construction, defence, refineries and materials bulk handling. Pre-apprentices are exposed to the latest technological developments in the fabrication and welding trade, including computer controlled metal plate cutting equipment.

Half-price

This course is half price for everyone (excl. school students) as part of the Lower Fees, Local Skills initiative. Fees are also capped at $1,200; or $400 if you're aged 15—24 or eligible for a concession. Find out more here.

RTO Entrance Requirements

Students must apply through the school application process, an aptitude test and interview process are undertaken to determine acceptance.

Certification

Upon successful completion you will receive a Certificate II in Engineering (Heavy Fabrication Pre-apprenticeship).

A Pre-Apprenticeship course enables you to experience what it is like to work in a trade before you make a commitment to an Apprenticeship course or trade area.  Pre-Apprenticeships do not require you to have an employment contract.
