Merredin is located in the Central Wheatbelt 261 km's from the state capital of Perth, the town lies roughly midway between Perth and Kalgoorlie as a historical stopover when travelling to and from the goldfields.Â
Central Regional TAFE - Merredin campus provides a centre for students to progress their flexible, online and open learning training in the eastern Wheatbelt region of Western Australia.
This campus caters to students living in the areas of east Quairading, as far as Narembeen up to Southern Cross and North including Wyalkatchem as far as Beacon. It also encompasses the shires of Kellerberrin, Mukinbudin, Bruce Rock, Nungarin, Bencubbin, Koorda and Westonia.
We are committed to making your training experience as positive as possible. That's why we offer customised, flexible and online options so there's always time for your family, work and lifestyle commitments.
Facilities
Our computer lab is located on campus and is fully equipped with workstations, software and internet access to encourage students to undertake their studies in a welcoming and well equipped environment.
We have a conference room which includes two way video and audio communication to many locations.
Enjoy our friendly space where students can recharge and relax during study breaks. It is equipped with a microwave, fridge, and tea/coffee making facilities.
Our trades annex is located off site in the industrial area of Merredin.
We have an on-site Lecturer who delivers apprentice block release training in the areas of:
- Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology
- Auto Servicing Technology
- Agricultural Mechanical Technology
- Light Mechanical Technology
- Mobile Plant Technology
- Automotive Air Conditioning Technology
- Automotive Tyre Servicing Technology
We are also equipped to deliver forklift training from this site.

Advance your career in the automotive industry. When you complete the Certificate II in Automotive Air Conditioning Technology you will have the skills and knowledge to work effectively in the automotive industry servicing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, retrofitting and modifying, diagnosing and repairing faults, whilst learning to work safely in the workplace.
This qualification offers a credit transfer or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for the vehicle servicing component within the Certificate II in Automotive Technology.
Please note: Central Regional TAFE offers this as a standalone course, but if you are an apprentice completing AUR30616 Certificate III in Light Vehicle Technology or AUR30316 Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology, you have the opportunity to complete a Certificate II in Automotive Air-Conditioning Technology as well.
