Central Regional TAFE - Northam campus is the main training facility in the Avon region, offering training services to the towns of Northam and Shires of Toodyay, York, Northam, Goomalling and Dowerin.

Just 97.5kms and an hour east of Perth, the picturesque Avon region is rich in primary industries and history.

Our Northam campus is proud to be known as a centre of excellence in primary industries, delivering a large range of training options throughout the Wheatbelt including Horticulture, Grain Production and many more.  The Regulatory Officers Compliance certifications and various associated short courses is, as with all our certifications, nationally recognised and on the forefront of training for local government compliance and upskilling of employees already in the field. 

Offering a range of training courses from skill sets, short courses and Certificate I through to Diploma in a variety of industry areas, we are focused on making your training experience as positive as possible. That is why we offer a variety of options including, short, flexible and online delivery, so there is always time for your family, work and lifestyle commitments.

The Library, also known as the Learning Resource Centre (LRC), is located on campus with many services provided for staff and students, including computer access, printing and photocopying.

Its facilities and resources support the different courses offered at the Northam, Merredin and Moora campuses.

All you have to do is present your staff or student ID card to access these services (many are free of charge).

We provide a large range of training in the fields of business and information technology, offering an excellent simulated Business Office Unit, where students gain hands-on office experience, without leaving the campus.

The canteen is the social hub of the campus.

Food and beverages are available including hot and cold lunches, salads, desserts and snacks. Tea and coffee facilities are available and Barista-style coffee can be made to order.

Our computer lab is located on campus and is fully equipped with workstations, software and internet access to encourage students to undertake their studies in a welcoming environment.

We have a conference room which includes two way video and audio communication to many locations.

We have two trades workshops on site. The first is the Peter Payne Trade Centre which specialises in Electrotechnology, Fabrication and Construction and the second is the Automotive Technology Skills Centre.

Our workshops enable industry relevant training in engineering, automotive, building, construction trades and electrotechnology.

Our pre-apprenticeship course in electrotechnology is popular with students aiming to gain an apprenticeship in this field.

The Automotive Technology Skills Centre focuses on automotive training for both light and heavy vehicles and includes facilities such as a unit for the installation, servicing and licensing of LP Gas, a tire fitting section, an array of automotive diagnostic instruments, fuel injection and pump facilities and four interior bays, two of which are work bays and two are hoist bays

Heavy Vehicle Driving Operations Skill Set

This skill set has been designed to promote new entrants and support upskilling of existing workers in the heavy haulage truck driving industry. 

In this training program you will learn how to:
