This course will set you up for a career in the automotive service, repair, and retail industry; working on a range of exciting mobile plant machinery such as earthmoving and lifting equipment used across a range of industry areas including building and construction and mining.
This course is half price for everyone (excl. school students) as part of the Lower Fees, Local Skills initiative. Fees are also capped at $1,200; or $400 if you're aged 15—24 or eligible for a concession. Find out more here.

This course will set you up for a career in the automotive service, repair, and retail industry; working on a range of exciting mobile plant machinery such as earthmoving and lifting equipment used across a range of industry areas including building and construction and mining.
You will learn how to diagnose and repair drivelines, drive assemblies, engines, torque converters, suspension, brakes, hydraulics, pneumatic systems, transmission and steering; repair basic electrical wiring and circuits; weld and do thermal cutting; work safely; and much more!
Training is delivered in modern workshops with industry standard tools and equipment.

This apprenticeship builds the knowledge and skills needed to diagnose, maintain and repair heavy machinery used in industries such as mining, construction, agriculture and civil works.
This course might be right for you, if you are:
- Interested in servicing and repairing heavy mobile plant equipment.
- Enjoy practical, hands-on mechanical work.
- Comfortable working outdoors or on varied job sites.
- Able to follow safety procedures and technical instructions.

To attain this qualification, you are required to successfully complete thirty six (36) units of competence, comprising nine (9) core and twenty seven (27) elective units selected from the options provided below. On-the-job learning must also be completed to attain this qualification under Apprenticeship/Traineeship arrangements.
