Elevated Work Platform (EWP) Skill Set

Safely use an elevating work platform. 

In this course you will learn the skills and knowledge required to safely operate a boom-type elevating work platform (EWP) where the length of the boom is 11 metres or more. 

Topics covered include:

  • Hazard and risk control 
  • Setting up and operating a EWP
  • Conducting routine checks of equipment
  • Shutting down and securing the equipment
  • WorkSafe requires the student must be 18 years of age to obtain a High-Risk Licence.
  • Students are expected to have basic English reading, writing and numeracy skills to complete the National Assessment Instrument (NAI) - the mandated assessment.
  • It is expected that students will be able to communicate in English without assistance from another person (including a translator).
  • Students must be prepared to undertake the written and practical tests under specific test conditions (e.g. closed book, stipulated time frame).
  • Pre-Workshop reading and Questions must be answered prior to attending the training.
     

Students will need:

  • Steel capped boots
  • Long pants 
  • Two coloured passport photos and two forms of identification

Certification

Upon successful completion you will receive a Statement of Attainment. 

A WorkSafe fee for the High Risk Licence is included into the course fee and completed applications and fees will be sent directly to WorkSafe. An interim licence will be issued to allow EWP operation until application is processed.
