Cook yourself up a great career — FREE IN '23!
If you dream of being a chef or cook, this is the course for you! You'll get all the skills and knowledge needed to start your career in a commercial kitchen team and be able to plan, prepare and cook food.
Throughout this course, you will produce dishes suitable for different cultural and dietary requirements and learn about cleaning, first aid, food safety programs, hygiene and workplace health and safety.
Upon successfully completing this course you will be qualified to work as a cook or chef in a range of kitchens.
This course will be FREE from 1 January 2023. The course fees are 100 per cent subsidised by the WA State Government.

RTO Entry Requirements
- Minimum English requirement of a band 8 year 9 Naplan/OLNA level.
- Training contract for the apprenticeship.
Entrance Requirements for Apprenticeships
You must be employed in a training contract by an appropriate organisation to study an apprenticeship or traineeship.
An apprenticeship involves full time work with an employer who provides an opportunity to learn all aspects of a trade. This is a structured program for a fixed period of time and while you learn on the job, you also attend off the job training at Central Regional TAFE.

- Learn on the job skills combined with off the job training
- Receive a nationally recognised qualification on successful completion
- Start a valuable step towards a rewarding career path.

Licensing, Legislation and Regulation Requirements
Legislation relating to this qualification include legislation of the Liquor Act relating to the completion of the Responsible Service of alcohol Qualification and is also guided by the WA WHS Act 2020, as well as the Food Act.
Certification
Upon successful completion you will receive a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery.
